Sébastien Cirotteau
French trumpet player and sound artist
Born in 1977, Paris, France
Lives in Toulouse, France

He began studying the trumpet at the age of ten, first at the National Music School of Le Mans, then at the National Conservatory of Rennes, where he diplomed a second cycle. He then studied sound recording techniques and semiology in Toulouse. This brought him a new sensitive approach on the listening of the surrounding sonic world and modified his own trumpet techniques, influenced both by electroacoustic music and soundscapes. He now focuses his practice on improvisation and sound recording.

Since 1999, he collaborates in several improvised projects (Ensemble Nodal, Aérophone, Collectif Ordulu, Clochepate…) and meets musicians in France, Germany, Spain and Argentina: Michel Doneda, Fabrice Charles, Le Quan Ninh, Isabelle Duthoit, David Chiesa, Jean Sébastien Mariage, Laurent Hoovenaers, Heddy Boubaker, Gabriel Paiuk, Diego Chamy, Lucio Capece, Wade Matthews, Ute Völker, Mazen Kerbaj, among others... He also plays since 2000 in a famous brass band: La Friture Moderne, leaded by composer and saxophonist Marc Démereau and exploring dramatical issues with director Christophe Bergon.

He has been playing in several clubs and festivals : Instants Chavirés (Paris, France), Le 102 (Grenoble, France), Centro Nacional de Mùsica (Buenos Aires, Argentina), Trytone Festival (Amsterdam, Netherlands), Europa Jazz Festival (Le Mans, France), Musique Quotiden Sonore (Albi, France), Beta Project (Pau, France)...

With german buto dancer Regina Goerger, he performed on the atlantic shore from North of France to South of Portugal, a cycle called Water Cycle 2002-2003.
He achieved sound creations for theatre and contemporary danse and performed electroacoustic concerts for silent movies.

In 2004, he moved to Buenos Aires with journalist Gwladys Deprez and achieved together a radio documentarie about the Argeninian social alternatives: Que tal, Argentina ?
